I've just added 207 Japanese ISOs for Sega Dreamcast from the redump database. These ISOs unlike the other releases we have are pure GD-ROM dumps. What this means is that you can't directly burn and play them on a real Sega Dreamcast. They're protected often by encryption or other techniques and are also usually larger than regular CDs.

However, you can definitely play these titles on an emulator with superior video and sound since they aren't re-sampled like the other scene releases. I've added over 121GB's of ISOs for you to download and enjoy so this will probably keep you busy for a while =) Have fun with the new additions, you can now find over 700 dreamcast ISOs for Direct Download here and almost 1000 if you count our community uploads too. I've just added a huge number of Acorn ROMs for the Archimedes, BBC Micro and Electron home computers. For those of you that aren't aware, the Acorn home computers were released in the UK as competitors to the Sinclair Spectrum, Commodore 64 and Amstrad CPC. While the computers didn't do that well initially, they ended up outlasting all their competitors in the market. There were a large number of games released for these computers and I've added them to our ROMs section today. Here's a breakdown of what we have:

Acorn Archimedes - 165 ROMs
Acorn BBC Micro - 4764 ROMs
Acorn Electron - 869 ROMs

There used to be a time long ago when we used to host a Kaillera Game Server for our users. We often had players on it and it used to be a lot of fun meeting, chatting and getting beaten up! In-case you didn't know, Kaillera is a client that allows you to play your old arcade games, snes games, genesis games, etc. online in either co-op or head to head mode depending on the game. It adds an entirely new dimension of gameplay to existing titles.

I've fired up two Kaillera servers for our visitors to meet and play on. It's pretty easy to setup once you have the required roms and emulators. Emulators such as MAME, Snes9X, ZSNES, Gens, etc. support Kaillera netplay.

Currently, we have two servers for you play on, one in Canada and one in Europe. I created two servers just so that you can get acceptable pings while playing online. Fighting games can be dull with high pings.

Our download server that carries our US Playstation ISO releases and some of the files from our Fullsets section was down the last few days. The ftp server went down and I was out at sea so I didn't have any network connectivity to know about or fix the problem. However, I'm back now and the issue has been fixed! : )

I've just added almost 5500 titles for the Atari 8-bit Family systems. The Atari 8-bit family included a variety of systems ranging from the Atari 400 to the Atari 1200XL. Some of the notable games that came out for the Atari 800 were Donkey Kong, Frogger, Deluxe Invaders, Atari Invaders, Preppie, Sea Dragon, Missile Command, Asteroids and many more. Honestly, this system brought into people's houses some of the best arcade games and it was no wonder that the Atari 8-bit systems did so well. There's a really great video on youtube on the 60 best titles for the Atari 800. Definitely worth a look:

I've just added titles for an extremely rare system to our ROMs, ISOs and Games Section. The Bandai Playdia was released only in Japan in 1994. The system was a failure and didn't last for very long after the release of the Sony Playstation. The games were extremely influenced by Anime and had huge FMV sequences and played through as if you were playing an interactive anime. Pretty cool stuff! Unfortunately, currently there's no emulator available for the Playdia so your best bet is to grab one off eBay or a pawn shop [they can be incredibly hard to find though..]. The good news is that the system plays burned games with no issues.

The Playdia also had some educational titles come out for it. I've added some of those too, here's a list of what we have:

Some Japanese ROMs, and a game based on Where the Wild Things Are (that was a great movie!). Maybe that's worth checking out though games based on movies tend to suck. Anyhow, find them all at our Nintendo DS New Releases Section.

I'm trying to work some magic into how we work with emulation these days. We now have a brand new feature called Suggest an Emulator. It's quite simple, when you go to each game page you'll find that you can Suggest an Emulator for other users to use with that particular game. I'm sure every one of us has often wondered about which emulator to use and this should be a step towards an easy solution to that problem. Of-course we don't carry [at this point of time] that many emulators for each system so I'll have to work on our database for a bit before this is a good addition for the rarer systems. However, we do have most popular systems covered so lets start with that!

Visitors can simply see which emulators have/haven't received ratings by checking the drop-down list on every game info page. Furthermore, once we do receive a fair number of entries individual game emulator votes will start counting towards total emulator votes. These will be displayed at a later stage (shouldn't be more than a week or two to get some good votes in :D) so that users can get a general idea of which emulator works for most people in most cases.

Sounds cool ? Well I do hope that you use this system to rate emulators so that the emulation n00bs who visit EmuParadise can get some first rate help from the get-go. So what're you waiting for ? I've just updated our NES ROMs Section with 145 modified ROMs. Modified ROMs are really interesting as people take the effort to add new features to already existing games or create completely new titles out of them. Also, there was a slight problem playing translated titles in our online NES emulator and I've fixed that. It was basically a problem with file-names that resulted in the emulator failing to load the games. Now you should be able to play almost our entire library of 2885 NES ROMs without any problems. All you need to do is click on the Play Online link on any ROM page. Here's a list of titles that have been added today:

Our users have been asking for this for a long while now and finally you can subscribe to our news using our RSS feed. I wrote a script today to feed you the latest news and information from Emuparadise as a Live Bookmark or to add to your favorite News Reader. You'll now see a friendly little RSS Icon in your browser address bar. I have just updated our MAME Section with CHDs for 0.136. There were only a few new additions so it didn't take much work at all. Also, due to popular demand, I've added an update pack to our Complete ROM Sets Section so that you can update your ROMs from MAME 0.129 to 0.136. The deal is that we carry the entire MAME 0.129 Set conveniently rared in our Complete ROM Sets Section. Well, now you can download an update pack to update your collection to MAME 0.136. Pretty nifty huh ? So for all those folks out there that hate downloading individual files all the time, head to our Complete ROM Sets Section.

Some of our users have been asking for this feature for a while. It's always nice if you can see a screenshot when you go to download a ROM or are looking for that game you used to play as a kid. Makes everything a whole lot easier because we often remember things by visual association rather than names. Anyhow, to put it simply, you can now upload screenshots for your favorite games at emuparadise.

On every game download page you will see a link to submit a screenshot. We approve your uploads manually to make sure we don't become a backdoor hentai site or something like that =P However, no worries because we'll be quick to approve your efforts. Also, you get to have your name next to the beautiful shots you take so make sure you look skilful :P

Tragic that I only heard about this today. There was a fan-made Zelda movie that was getting really popular all of December until Nintendo brought them down with a C&D order. The movie was created in Atlanta, Georgia, USA by some fans and was screened at a few locations in New York and Los Angeles.

The film is a feature length project and follows closely with the Zelda storyline. From the film's about page:

The film is set in Hyrule where a young boy from the forest (Link) is beckoned by his dreams and the sage of the forest (Deku Tree) to venture to the city of Hyrule and seek princess Zelda's council. The evil Lord Ganondorf has plotted to overthrow the kingdom which propels Princess Zelda into hiding. Link endeavors to save them by pulling of the Master Sword in the Temple of Time. Consequently sending him 5 years into the future where Ganon now rules and threatens the future of the kingdom. Link must find a way to not only save his princess but the land he's fervent for.
