Mars Matrix is a Maniac-shooter or Manic shoot as they say in Japan. Those games are generaly epileptical shooting games with tons of lasers or bullets on the screen that can turn a good little boy into a crazy drooling rabbit jumping everywhere in the living room.

Got the idea? Mars matrix is one of them. You start de game with only four lifes and zero continu. Your goal? survive, survive, and survive, dodging and avoiding the millions shot aiming your spacecraft to progress as much as possible into the game.

And when the game over arrives (trust me you're not going to wait too long to see him T__T) the real game starts. Each alien destroyed previously earns you some cash that you can spend in a special option zone to unlock new bonus to help you to go deeper into the game. In fact you'll need to go through the game numerous times to unlock everything (as more continues, vortex attack fast-reload, better speed, and ultimatly, a new "youjoke-hahaha-imdead-areyouserious-hyper-hardest mode for people equiped with two brains).

The rest of the game is pretty classical for a shooter, firepower upgrade items, two players coop mode, gigantic bosses, except for the vortex attack aka matrix-hole, a whirlwind of energy that attract everysingle shoot on screen on your spacecraft and release them in explosion to erase all enemies and save you a couple of time (every ten seconds to be honest ^_^).

So Mars Matrix is an addictive maniac shooter, one of the mythological dreamcast top shooter with Ikaruga and Radiant silvergun.
