OverviewAdvance Wars is a turn based strategy game developed by Intelligent Systems. It is the first game in the series to be released in North America.

Advance wars is like a layered version of chess. It's easy to get the hang of, and the graphics and animation are both pleasing to the eye. It start off easy enough, but it has an advanced campaign (same thing as a game+ or second quest) that you unlock after beating the game that is very difficult. This game is a hidden gem, as it didn't pick up much popularity in the US due to low sales. (The cover of the box shows people smiling while riding a tank, and it was released a day or two before the 9/11 attacks.) The quality and fun factor for this game are through the roof, and you would be doing yourself an injustice to ignore it.

What's so addicting about this game is that it mimicks a game of chess. Well thought moves using a variety of units to achieve victory by either total defeat, capturing of the HQ, or some other task. Not doing anything when it's your turn is merely a part of the gameplay, and I'm surprised some see it as a negative. Sometimes, I found this game to be too addictive and I couldn't stop playing for hours. What makes this game great is the variety of strategy used in the battlefield. I would highly recommend this for any GBA owner.…
