First off, thank you for taking the time out to clarify some questions I have. I really do appreciate it. I literally just got my Pi in the mail from Amazon and plan to build a gaming console for my family this weekend. I have a few questions that I am confused about.
Game plan:
- Raspberry Pi 3B
- 32gb c10 microsd
- 128gb USB 3.0 flash drive
- 2 controls
- install Retropie v4.1
- downloaded NES, SNES, N64 full romset
- heatsinks
Questions:
- I would like to download and install MAME romset. Why on earth are there so many listed on emu paradise? I am completely lost as to which one(s) I need to run with retropie v4.1. Do I need to download them all? Or only a specific one to run. I am aware there are a few different emulators within retropie that can handle MAME games. Is there one that excels over the rest? Where can I locate romset needed for said awesome retropie mame emulator? I've seen people link this page but it looks completely foreign to me. Fork? BIOS? DAT? clrmamepro? HUH??? I've googled/youtubed around and can't seem to get a clear breakdown answer. Sorry. I am trying my best to learn/understand everything. MAME has me stumped lol.
- Anyone try running their roms via the usb flash drive vs microsd? Is it worth doing? link
- Would you advise getting a fan installed on the rpi3 necessary for playing all the games?
- Anything that I am missing or would benefit from that I haven't purchased, linked, downloaded, etc?
