Monster Rancher was a rather unusual title for the Sony Playstation. A title that evades classification but still ends up winning the hearts of gamers. The game was released on November 30th, 1997 by Tecmo.

The premise of Monster Rancher is strange but simple. Monster Rancher reads a small amount of data off a CD and then uses it to generate a fighting monster. Depending on the data in the CD, you might end up with a huge dragon or at the worst, a tiny little eye creature. After you're done generating your monster, you have to train it to fight! The idea is to become the greatest monster breeder in the world! You can control the diet, levelling up and other criteria of your monsters, you can even merge them with other monsters to create hybrid beings!

The Monsters are very animated and expressive of their emotions. Over a period of time you might even get attached to your monster friends. A highly unusual yet addictive game for the Sony Playstation, one that you definitely shouldn't give a miss!
