How to Play this Game ?
Game Description & Reviews:
Shenmue takes place in Yokosuka, Japan around November of 1986. You play as the protagonist Ryo Hazuki who is just returning home. You see your father die (Sucks I know) And you go to find his killer (Pretty much thats all I'm giving away) In this game you can do anything you want (includes drinking tea, Yeah I know tea ftw) There are some cool features like the battle system and the quick time event. The game carries on into the second and third game... The fourth disk allows you to go through all diffrent parts of the game (called the Passport pretty cool actually) I enjoyed this game kept me busy durring exams (Who studies??) It's a fun game in my oppinion, Give it a try.
1986, Yokusuka, Japan. Ryo Hasuki's life is about to change completely as he is going to begin a quest of vengence and self-descovery. Shenmue( a Chinese name for a cherry blossom tree) is one of the most innovative games ever. It's probably one of the best games ever asi it was made with such a perfection that it absorbs you into the world of peaceful harbour little town of Yokusuka.Ryo's father is killed under ambiguous circumstances by a man called Lan Di.
You are about to unfathom a complex entangled story; new people Iwao Hazuki( Ryo's father) once knew and a complex Chinese Mafia(Cheyoumen) cartel that controls a lot of things in the game.
The sound is great and we are given the chance to listen to a collection of beautiful songs.
In short, enjoy the game and the rich world!
Shenmue is an excellent and immersive adventure game, ahead of its time.
While it would rate differently in this day and age due to the massive overabundance of open-world games today, taking Shenmue at face value it is an excellent adventure game marred slightly by its voice acting.
If you're sick and tired of open-world adventures, or prefer all of the accessibility and conveniences of current open-world or 'sandbox' games - This is not the game for you.
More akin to the Yakuza/Ryu Ga Gotoku series - if you are hankering for a good adventure game, despite its ripe age, then you'll enjoy Shenmue.
Also of note: Don't listen to a guy whose nickname is Cloud Strife. Because, seriously...
For all the praise that distilled on this game it is very overated. The game does not play very well overly tricky controls and poorly designed locations. Not to mention horrible english voice acting and terrible dialouge and crappy story and this is the most overated games of all times it is just not a good game.
I've got to say I'm impressed with the way this game is played. It's fun and keeps you busy for a while. I've also played the 2nd it plays through just as well.... Too bad they're not going to release the third one :/ But overall a game that needs to be played.
